Global trend of Chikugunya fever
119 countries and regions have reported local transmission, covering all WHO regions worldwide, including the Americas, Asia, Africa, and some parts of Europe.
About 5.5 million people are at risk of infection, with the virus spreading at a rate of 35000 cases per week, putting pressure on healthcare systems in multiple countries.
Epidemic Storm Center
Americas: Brazil has accumulated over 2.3 million cases, and Colombia has recorded a historic peak of 17000 new cases in a single week; Argentina has reported 2743 suspected cases, of which 31 have been confirmed.
Asia: The new strain CHIKV-IND25 in India accounts for 61%, and its transmission capacity has significantly increased; The number of cases in tourist areas of Thailand and Malaysia has surged, and the risk of importation continues to rise.
Africa: The density of Aedes mosquitoes in Mombasa Port, Kenya has surged by 280%, and baboon populations have been confirmed as animal hosts; Due to the lack of monitoring in villages along the Congo River, the epidemic is spreading in a hidden manner.
Europe: French overseas territory outbreak: Reunion Island has confirmed 52000 cases (actual infections may exceed 100000), with 15 deaths; Mayotte Island saw over a thousand new additions in a single week; Imported cases have emerged in Italy and France, triggering local transmission chains.
Chikugunya fever is similar to dengue fever and is mainly transmitted through mosquito bites
Chikugunya fever is an acute infectious disease caused by the Chikugunya virus (CHIKV), transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, characterized by fever, rash, and joint pain. Chikugunya fever is mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical regions, especially in Africa and Southeast Asia; The popular season is summer and autumn, but it can be popular all year round in tropical regions.
Typical symptoms: fever+rash+joint pain
The incubation period of Chikugunya fever is usually 3-7 days, and the following symptoms may appear after onset:
Fever: Patients often experience sudden onset, chills, fever, with a body temperature of up to 39 ℃, accompanied by headache, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, and enlarged lymph nodes.
Rash: 80% of patients develop a rash on the extended side of the trunk, limbs, palms, and soles of the feet 2-5 days after onset. The skin between the rashes is mostly normal, and some patients may experience itching.
Joint pain: Fever accompanied by pain and swelling in multiple joints and vertebrae, which may be accompanied by systemic muscle pain.
Other: A very small number of patients may experience meningitis, liver function damage, myocarditis, and skin and mucosal bleeding.

Taking mosquito prevention measures involves three key steps
The key to preventing Chikugunya fever is to eliminate mosquitoes, clear stagnant water, and prevent bites.
1:eliminate mosquitoes as soon as possible. Mosquito incense, electric mosquito swatter and anti mosquito spray should be prepared, and sanitary dead corners should be treated. Without mosquito bites, there would be no transmission of such viruses.
2:clear the accumulated water. Indoor aquatic plants should change water every 3-5 days, and the water storage container should be covered. Without mosquito breeding grounds, mosquito bites can be greatly reduced.
3:anti bite measures. Wear light colored long clothes and pants when going out, stay less in the shade of trees and grass outdoors, install screen doors and windows at home, and hang mosquito nets when sleeping.
